Publishing Of the Bhagavad Gita
Prabhupada - nothing could block him, nothing could intimidate him, and he would just try it anyway even when the odds were against him. And things started to happen. We were just talking about how Prabhupada wanted his Gita published; he told Brahmananda that you’re service is to get this Bhagavad-Gita published. What a thing to ask , Brahmananda is just a simple guy and he has just joined. And Swamijii has this manuscript and he asked him to get this published. Swamiji who has no money and is an unknown writer from India and he has some manuscript. Where do you go to such a publisher with a manuscript? So he might be thinking well I don’t quite know what to do now. So there he was but Brahmananda was really thinking how to get Bhagavad-Gita published, so he was totally sincere. It was materially speaking impossible, some author, unknown, no money. A real publisher. Then somehow or other there was a worker for the Macmillan publishing group , asking if ISKCON had a Bhagavad-Gita , so then Brahmananda was thinking I’ll go to this person and ask him to print our Gita. It turned out this person was just a clerk and just wanted one Gita for himself. But they didn’t have one. So Brahmananda tried to sell him a set of the Bhagavatam. Just as he was there one of the upper managers came and overheard and said what are you doing here? He said this man was interested in the Bhagavad-Gita. The manager replied Bhagavad-Gita, you have a Bhagavad-Gita. We’re just looking for one. Brahmananda told him of his manuscript, and the manager took him to his office. And then it was done. All glories to Brahmananda for going to Macmillan. And then Krishna helps. This is what happens when one becomes dear to Krishna. >
