A flying movement...

Prabhupada was just so surrendered and whatever his spiritual master thought was important, Prabhupada just embraced it completely. He never begrudgingly sort of executed the order of his spiritual master. He went for it! And if only we could be the same, then our movement would be flying....!

Don't play with Maya!

Maya can read our mind so therefore she knows exactly what we like! Oh, and she knows all our weaknesses! So she knows when we are at our weakest moment and just then...'What I always wanted...now it's here! Oh well, I can fall down today and be Krsna conscious tomorrow!' (cellphone rings) and who's on the line? Guess who...? (Laughter)

In this way, she has her way and her tricks to pull us out of our spiritual practices again and again in whatever way she can do...and she'll strike us! Just like Prabhupada said that in his early preaching, in the 60's in New York, he got a heart attack and he said, 'Maya gave me this blow. Maya saw that I was very successful and she gave me a death blow. But Krsna saved me!'

So just see how heavy Maya is; she can give death blows and all these things to such a pure devotee! Imagine what she can do to us...

Caitanya caritamtra 5.67 - Mood of a Personal Attendant

Today maharaja gave a class on the Sri Caitanya caritamrta Adi lila 5.67-68.
It was about our service mood to Lord Nityananda, and how we should try to serve Him and the Parampara. You can listen to this class yourself.
This afternoon Maharaja will attend a big program in The Hague and after that leave to Radhadesh again where he will prepare for the coming Vyasapuja and Queensday Festival.

Through forgiveness we can rise above this material condition- it is a fact -it is not so easy. But when I was about to join the Hare Krishna Movement I thought:
‘Now! now it will be wonderful, because from now on I will be together with many nice people, just like me!’
And then when I joined, I saw that this HORRIBLE GUY! - The one that I always detested! Everything about him, I always thought was disgusting!
He had also JOINED! I never expected that! That was something that I hadn’t calculated. It was a major problem that I had to face!...

Better To Partake!

Chanting is not meant to be a musical performance.

It can be, but now we will try to perform it in a different mood - in the mood of performing a yagna.

In a yagna, the essence is to partake, just as when one throws grains in a fire, it's nice if one is watching, but it is better if one throws the grains.

In the same way, it is alright to watch the performance of kirtan, but still:

Krsna takes great pleasure in hearing His names being chanted. One should not think that Krsna is enjoying the chanting because it is a form of vanity in Him that He enjoys: ' Oh!! The're chanting My name!!!' No, Krsna is free from any such quality. So the only reason why Krsna is enjoying when we are chanting, is that the living beings, they are turning to Him...

Durban Ratha Yatra 2010- Vid 1

How many of us really have the time to regularly chant 64 rounds? I like the program of rising at 1:30am, and then take bath and only chant, then I can 64 rounds before 10am, but then no mangala arati, guru puja and class. Sometimes I want to hang a sign on the door " Do Not Disturb, important meeting in progress" and inside the room I will be trying to meet Krsna by chanting His holy names.



Sometimes I want to be alone. And other times I want to go on harinama or be there Ratha Yatra. Preaching gives life to our japa...

Anywhere, anyone, anytime..chant chant chant

So the chanting of the Hare Krsna Mahamantra is a simple thing which can be done anywhere by anyone. One doesn't need to be rich, or doesn't need to be in a temple. It's not reserved for big public festivals. It can be done at home. One can simply, at home, in a simple way, one can engage in chanting the name of Krsna and if we do so, then immediately, immediately, everything will become auspicious.

many births before somebody finally understands

Those who are intelligent, they understand that the Supreme Lord has His energies that are all-pervading, but that He is also simultaneously a person. But that realization comes after many births. It says in the Bhagavad Gita (sanskrit) that it takes many births before somebody finally understands that the Supreme Lord is a person . Krsna, Vasudev is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who has eternal pastimes which are full, full of bliss and free from all anxiety.

'I give you - you give me also'

The Business people: ‘Aaah, Yes my Lord PLEASE ! I give you - you give me also! I give you small donation, You make me rich!’
Like that, we see in front of our temples in India, we have the money changers.
In Vrindavan, there they have one paiysa coins - in the shops you can’t use them anymore. The smallest in the shop its 5 paiysa, but the one paiysa coins, they are still being used to throw at the Deities!
We take a rupee, and get a one hundred and one paiysa coins and you throw it on the alter: ’Oh YES I give you one paiysa, now you please, give me one back!’
Yes good business and a pretty high profit margin! Not bad at all!.. Right?!??

So PROFIT, profit, profit is what life is all about! The Ganapachyas they have business mentality in their worship:
‘Oh Ganapati, Oh I LOVE YOU!, yes ....please make me RICH!’

Serious Chanting To Enter The Other Domain

Chanting is the process. Chanting is also the goal! So one has to simply follow the process- and it’s not about just one’s consciousness: it’s about what we do. We must do it! We must apply ourselves to chanting - and this is how we judge- those who really seriously chant they are the ones that are going to penetrate, they’re going to enter into that other domain, which is now invisible to us, the ecstatic festival of Lord Gauranga!

Question: Should one seek a spiritual master or does the relationship manifest naturally by Krsna's mercy?

Maharaja: Yes, by the mercy of Krsna one gets guru, and by the mercy of guru one gets Krsna, but it doesn't harm to go looking. Sometimes the guru is right under our nose and still we don't see him, because maybe we have to open our eyes! If you have your eyes closed, and are asleep, you might not see.

Krsna gives the power

When we become a devotee of Krsna, we become the instrument of Krsna and we see that Krsna begins to work through us and that we become empowered. One day Srila Prabhupada said, "My spiritual master made me into a diamond!" A diamond is completely transparent. The light goes through unobstructed in all directions. Thus a devotee becomes empowered to be an instrument of the Lord and then see what they can do. People say, "How can you do it?" Krsna gives the power, He makes it possible, so one who dedicates his life to Krsna becomes empowered by Krsna.

Krishna Is Behind Everything

Srimad Bhagavatam is designed to help us see how Krishna is close to us. Bhagavatam begins to explain, how the creation is emanating from Krishna and how everything in this world is depending on Krishna. It says that, without Krishna, we cannot see and without Krishna we cannot hear...
He controls all our essential functions. So in this way, everything relates to Krishna...
We see that the Supreme Lord is ultimately behind the sun. He supplies that unlimited energy! How can a thing be possible for the sun to keep on shining, shining, shining, shining, shining? and it never becomes diminished! and it’s heat - How’s it possible?
It is the unlimited energy of the Supreme Lord!

Mercy

We receive the mercy from Krsna's lotus feet from our spiritual masters in disciplic succesion. We place that mercy on our head and then we begin to change and then it is our turn to pass it on. Nice this parampara, the mercy is passed on and every who is touched by it on the way changes and becomes pure...

The nature of the living being is to serve Krishna

It is said that the nature of sugar is sweet. The nature of water is wet. The nature of fire is hot. The nature of the living being is to serve. To serve Krishna, only then when we serve, than we will be happy. Like parents, they serve their children. That’s the cause of happiness. Everyone has to serve. We have to serve in your job - we have to serve! Even the King has to serve. Everyone has to serve. But who is greater, when it comes to serving, than the Supreme Lord? He’s the GREATEST!
When it comes to a object of servers. No greater object, than serving Krishna! So in this way, we can by logical explanation understand why Krishna Consciousness is the TOPMOST and why it’s beyond religion!

It is said in the ancient times, people had stones. Some sages had stones by which they could turn iron into GOLD! Such stones are described to be touchstones!
So it’s said that the Holy name of Krishna is Cintamani - so it is a touchstone.
It can transform, an ordinary person into a saintly person!

So to never take birth again is more than eating cake. It is really a matter of making a commitment, of being brave, very brave, and go before someone and to say, "I am yours!" It's a scary thing to do.

Kadamba Kanana Swami left Durban on Wednesday, April 14, after being with us for almost a month. From Ratha Yatra, to house programs, to Nama Hatta programs, to the BBT conference and a mini Vyasa Puja, together with the ocean of sannyasis and devotees from around the world, Maharaja pumped Durban, yet once again, with his amazing mood of pouring the mercy of Lord Caitanya in all hearts...

Do Not Take The Relationship Casual

It is said that through Krsna one gets guru and through guru one gets Krsna and these two are intimately connected. And within the relationship with the spiritual master Krsna is manifest.

Deep Inner Satisfaction

The name of Krsna is invested with all the energies of Krsna Himself and by chanting this Name one can attain all perfection in life (Sanskrit), One can experience unlimited happiness!

Everyone in this world is in need of spiritual life - some people know it, some people don't, but it is a fact:
We see so much unrest.
We see that people are not peaceful.
We see that in this world there is a lot of anxiety.
A lot of insecurity- because people are not satisfied within themselves.
If everyone was simply satisfied within themselves, then there would be no difficulty.

This chanting of the Hare Krsna Mahamantra can give people deep inner satisfaction. This satisfaction is higher than anything in the world and brings one to the point of no longer depending on so many external things.
All this can be tasted within the chanting of the Holy Names

Just as Prabhupada would say that: ‘ I don’t have any disciples’
They asked him: ‘ How many disciples do you have perhaps?’
‘I don’t have any disciples. Krishna sent me many spiritual masters’
He saw disciples as spiritual masters. To see every devotee as one’s spiritual master. How can you see every devotee as your spiritual master?

Every devotee is your spiritual master. How is that possible?
Because everyone has a very unique way of serving Krishna!
Everyone has some specific strength, something extraordinary in the way they serve. And in this way you can learn from everyone!
You can learn a trick or two from anyone or everyone...

Durban Ratha Yatra 2010!

The Ratha Yatra Kirtana has started, so many drums, so loud, different melodies carry us away, and sweep us up in wild whirlpools. Go beyond our limits! Oh Krsna you know how to trick us, you put us in this wild crowd,now we have to chant with all our energy and dance and dance! Then the next morning alone with You, my Lord, chanting your Holy Name peacefully. One thing enhances the other. yena tena prakarena mana krsna nisevayet somehow or other focus the mind on Krsna and chant!

There are many religions in the world, but all give us a piece of the puzzle. But the Bhagavad Gita gives us the complete picture.
Some have worshipped the all-pervading white light - that is the aura of Krsna, a golden effulgence. That is the Supreme Brahman on which everything rests, but Krsna Himself is the origin.

Eternal shelter, we will find only when we are in our natural position, and the nature of the living being is to serve Krsna. Everyone has to serve, but there is no greater object than serving Krsna. Therefore we understand why Krsna Consciousness is the topmost religion...

Connect with God

Well, He is everywhere. All His energy is here, on the table - is His energy, the floor is His energy, the building is His energy, the room is His energy, the stars are His energy, the sun is His energy, the ocean is His energy and so on.

So in one sense we are always connected with Him. But that’s His energy.
He is also present in a personal form as the source of all the energy. And if you want to connect with the Personal Form -then we are doing that through His Name.

The thing is that they say that everything about Him is spiritual- so His Name is also spiritual, and if you repeat the Name, you speak the Name or sing the Name -then His full spiritual presence is there, in the Name.

All His power is there! So that’s why we sing this Mantra, or this song, because all the spiritual energies is within there!

'Mind, Body and Words. And the words are also dedicated to the glorification of the Supreme Lord. So in this way by hearing pure words, by speaking pure words, the mind is further purified. So there is a connection: mind body and words. These three are together and if we invest in one of the there: Then it will benefit the other two. If you work with the body for Krishna then gradually the mind and the words will become more Krishna conscious. If you always speak about Krishna - then your actions will also become for Krishna:

Must Take Shelter Of The Spiritual Master

So we must take shelter of our spiritual master. That is important. We must take shelter, again and again! Otherwise we have no strength. We have no strength without taking shelter. We will not be able to succeed in spiritual life. We will struggle!
We will not be able to maintain our vows, or we will not even be able to take vows! Without taking shelter. It is like that. It is crucial! It is the cutting edge!... That’s the only way. Then it will work.
Otherwise Krishna Consciousness cannot take us very far!
