So, this is the spirit to chant and that’s why it is stated sometimes: we must chant early in the morning and not just throughout the day. It’s a big difference, you see, because throughout the day we try and chant: ‘ Hare Krsna Hare Krsna…ya, ya I see. Okay. Ya, no no. All right yes, I will call back later. Hare Krsna Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare…IDIOT!!! (while driving)…’ And like that, you know, we can throughout the day get caught up in 101 things while chanting our rounds- very difficult, very difficult! To go into the same mood of meditation: just Krsna and everything else, let’s forget it. For once, let us focus on our eternal relationship with the Supreme Lord. So therefore the early morning is very valuable, very important and therefore, in the science of devotional service, we know, that if we don’t rise early in the morning, then it will be difficult, that our spiritual life may suffer, and that the real quality will not be there...(HH KKS, 2005, Durban, SA)
