Sriptures are saying is that what one should control his eating. Not just eat anything and everything; not just eat unlimited quantities. We sing everyday before taking lunch. We sing a prayer! (Sanskrit). It is one of the favourite prayers of the devotees. They like that ONE! The translation reads that the senses are the network of past leading to death. Hmm …is that your favourite song?! 
The senses are the network of past leading to death! And of all the senses, the tongue is most ferocious! And most difficult to control!But by the mercy of Lord Caitanya, Lord Nityananda -it becomes possible to control the tongue! So that the tongue is very difficult to control. What goes in- and what goes in has this effect. Yes !! So scriptures recommend that we control the tongue!
