The purpose of regulative principles is ultimately Krsnaprema. And in that way we understand that Harinam sankirtan is non-different from the meditation on Vrindavan, because it is always bringing people to the pastimes of Vrindavan and being in separation from Vrindavan, and bringing those who are far from Vrindavan, covered by maya, to bring them back. In this way, sankirtan is really the highest manifestation of that consciousness. So in one sense, there is no distinction that can be made between the internal and the external, because in one sense, within the external sankirtan movement, the internal ecstasy is there - the deepest internal ecstasy is there!
