Sri Madhavendra Puri, it is said, was such an ecstatic devotee there was no one else like him. He was actually, it is described in the Caitanya Bhagavad that he was alone in this world because he could not find any other devotee who was as inspired about Krsna as He was! So therefore he kind of kept to himself and was just absorbed in worshiping Krsna! But then there is a description how Madhavendra Puri met Lord Nityananda. There he found a person who had the same intense appreciation for the Supreme Lord, the same intense love of God, and when these 2 personalities met, it's undescribable how they just became totally ecstatic! They rolled on the ground together, they embraced each other, they were totally forgetting the external world. And the disciples of Madhavendra Puri were just amazed to see such symptons of ecstacy because never before had their spiritual master displayed that ecstacy, although all along he had, but it was always internal.(Kadamba Kanana Swami 2003)
