Devotee: I was wanting to ask a question : How is Nama Ruci Vaishnava Seva and Jiva Doya the essence of all the scriptures?
HH KKS: Well we hear this statement in a story…in a discussion between Rupa and Sanatana Goswami and there is one narration where it is stated that when Jiva Goswami ..no it was Rupa…Rupa Goswami was asked to summarise the essence of the philosophy and he mentioned these three things. Not suprising because Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu after all has pointed out Nama..(Sankrit)…Sankitrtana….(Sanskrit)….Sankirtana is the essence directly from His own mouth and He has said that serving the Vaishnavas is there. And Nama Sankirtana involves two things ….we discussed this…it involves our own purification and it involves delivering the conditioned souls. So one can never serve Krishna directly….that is not possible …therefore we must be the servant of the Vaishnavas ….and in this age one can not serve Krishna without Harinama Sankirtana…which means chanting of the Holy name and distributing the Holy Name …..so then all these principles are all automatically included.
So generally we don’t hear these three stressed so much …it is not that Srila Prabhupada mentioned these three regularly and said “I want to stress once again ..which are the three essential principles of our teachings”. Although we know the story and know these three …(Sanskrit)….we don’t have to make it our regular preaching slogan. I think we will just repeat the standard ones: Harer nama harer nama harer namaiva kevalam kalau nasty eva nasty eva nasty eva gatir anyatha………..and obviously the point ….(Sanskrit)…that one by hearing Bhagaavatam one can develop taste for Vasudeva Katha ….(Sanskrit)….by hearing the heart becomes purified …..these are the slokas that Prabhupada quoted regularly again and again ….(Sankrit)….so I think those are the ones that are regularly emphasized. Because just as he did …we will also do and point at Srimad Bhagavatam. But if we make these three our own slogan then we are pointing at that particular narration and story and some tell it in a different way and some don’t agree that it was actually said and so on. But whatever maybe we accept that these are indeed the essence of spiritual life. (Sanskrit)…… Harer nama harer nama harer namaiva kevalam ...
Because the more authorised our statements are ….and the more our statements are representing the Acharyas ….the more they can not be attacked, the more safe they are ….the more anyone’s doubt will just be destroyed by that and therefore we should simply repeat things as Srila Prabhupada has established………. Then we are very strong….our Sampradaya will be very strong , we will be individually strong, our statements will be strong and then we are strong …………………..Ok……Thank You very much…Srila Prabhupada Ki Jaya!!!….Srimad Bhagavatam Ki JaYa!!!…Gaura Bhakta Vrnda Ki Jaya!!!
