Serious Commitment
KKS DAILY NECTAR
Initiation in one sense is a beginning. It is the beginning of making a very serious commitment because at the time of initiation we are committing ourselves to try and become a pure devotee of Krsna…Let us then take advantage and take it in our heart that we take initiation to make a real change in our life.

What Is Humility?
KKS DAILY NECTAR
Humble is simply that we are ready to accept others as our superiors and we’re open to accept guidance from others. That is true humility. So humility must not be mistaken for externally acting very timid and acting sort of…keeping oneself always in the background; that is not true humility. True humility, rather, is simply submitting oneself before superior persons and ask, “What should I do?” that is true humility. It’s not simple. To take guidance of the vaisnavas, to take guidance of the scriptures- that is humility. To hold the scriptures in such high esteem and say, “Yes, these scriptures will become the guidelines in my life,” that is humility.

We Must Chant Hare Krishna
KKS DAILY NECTAR
When we begin to glorify Krsna, then we are acting on the pure spiritual platform. Anything to do with the glorification of Krsna is actually awakening the soul from its slumber here in the embodied stage. And gradually, when the soul becomes completely awakened, it becomes completely blissful and becomes completely alive…so therefore we must chant Hare Krsna to take us to that other dimension,

KKS Daily Nectar
The instructions of the spiritual master are siromani, are like jewels on the head, they are carried like a jewel, like a great treasure. Whatever the spiritual master said is siromani; it is not a casual thing at all. It is never to be taken as light thing. It is always to be taken as something very important- everything that the spiritual master says!

Putana Pastime - Reassurance For Us All
KKS DAILY NECTAR
Xmas Day 2005 Sweden
Putana came and Putana is trying to kill Krishna on the order of Kamsa but Krishna He accept it, He accepted her offering of milk from her breasts and He also accepted the poison and He also took her life air as He was sucking. It is described Krishna was holding on to her breast with both His hands, Krishna was sucking out her life force, it was very painful, the child was very strong she coundn’t pull Him off so it is said then Putana , it describes that Putana became very big but because Krishna arranged that the house of Nanda Maharaja not be destroyed Putana ran outside of the house and in that way the house was not destroyed and in fact Putana became very huge, she became 20km long but because of the pain she was running and she crashed finally to the ground just outside of Vrndavana in the middle of the orchard in the favourite fruit orchard of Kamsa and smashed all the trees there! As it is described so in that way Krishna took care of everything all at once because otherwise Putana would have destroyed the house of Nanada Maharaja by becoming so big ….that would not have been very very nice, these were Krishna’s pastimes just starting , everything was under control.
It is said that the Acharyas they again and again expressed their amazement for the reward that Putanda got…Putana was delivered and because she had offered her breasts it was taken as devotional service and Krishna was disregarding the poison and therefore Putana attained the spiritual world. Putana went back to Godhead to Goloka Vrndavana where Putana got the position of a nurse of Krishna in assisting role she was not directly nursing Krishna but she was one one of those assistance that was getting everything ready for the morning for Krishna’s dressing, Krishna’s bathing and everything Krishna required ……….so it is most amazing that a demon was getting such a reward, such an inconceivable reward ...So it is said that Krishna in general when He kills a demon He gives some special mercy, a little extra mercy not just the general mercy which every demon gets that they will attain Brahman and become free from material contamination and attain Brahman and merge into Brahman but He also gives a little extra and in the case of Putana He gave so much. And Putana being the mother, the mother is like the first guru because the mother is teaching everything “No no! Do this …no no…That is bad..no no this u should do, no that is what you should not do.”
So Putana came as a mother but instead of acting as a proper teacher, as a proper protector Putana instead betrayed Krishna ..so in that way Putana is the original false guru…..this is considered to be the most heionous offense. The fasle guru is attaining hellish planets is going to the darkest hells but somehow or other Putana also did devotional service … so here we get an insight how the guru disciple relationship should be like that …like there should be the same trust as a child has in his mother. Whenever a mother says that’s it… they have to accept it so whatever the Spiritual master is saying that should be accepted.
It is very difficult to be a disciple because in this age we have all lost our trust in our mothers in our fathers .. we may love them but trust is another thing…Who could be what his mother wants him to be ?! ………We love mum but we can’t be what mum wants us to be that’s out of the question that’s not possible!
So it is the age where all of our trust has been broken: The trust in our parents has been broken, the trust in our teachers has been broken the trusts in our authorities has been broken , it’s so difficult to trust: therefore it is difficult to surrender…….. . we have also become accustomed to being our own authority to do what we want and we do what we want ……..so somehow or other to be a disciple is very difficult but that is what Krishna wants and Krishna arranges like that and Krishna Himself accepts a Spirtual master. Sandipa Muni is compared to a mountain, it is said that Krishna is like the ocean of transcendental knowledge and from that ocean of unlimited knowledge a cloud came and that cloud was going through the sky and then it got stuck on the mountain of Sandipa Muni and there it stayed all that knowledge and from that cloud water came and rivers came from the mountains and in this way Sandipani Muni gave whatever he received from Krishna back to Krishna and in that way Krishna very quickly… Krishna and Balalarama very quickly, when they were eleven years old They left Vrndavana to go to Sandipani Muni ashram and they very very quickly learned everyday they learned a new art , there were many arts , even the art of playing water pots, whatever that art is you maybe wondering ..of course I have heard water pots being played in the train between Mayapur and Calcutta , the local artist making his bread and butter and it was quite melodious actually , they played rhythms on them and they were covered in different ways to makes notes out of it … so Krishna was very expert in playing water pots, that musical skill, He was not only expert in playing water pots, but Krishna was also expert in playing water because when Krishna jumped in the water to fight Kaliya then Krishna first made music in the water … I don’t know exactly how he did it but it was very beautiful ..but Kaliya didn’t like it !
Krishna plays like that ..He is showing that He is going to already….He gives some preview of what is coming ……… dancing on the hoods of Kaliya if we read…sanskrit………. when Krishna danced on the hoods of Kaliya the residents of Vrndavana they were overwherlmed …Nanda and Yasoda they were still so much shocked that Krishna had been all that time in the coils of Kaliya that they could not even see, not even see Krishna dancing, they were that shocked and others when they saw Krishna dancing they were so overwhelmed that they could not believe it , the cowherd boys they had just been dead you know , they had been dead and then they had been revived because before when Krishna came all the cowherd boys and the cows were dead and Krishna put them back to life , they were shocked: we were dead and now we are back alive and so on and therefore Krishna took advantage of the situation that His parents were not clear in the head , that the cowherd boys were tired, and to invite the gopis on the hood of Kaliya and He had a whole rasa dance there on the hoods of Kaliya so it is described.
So in this way Krishna’s pastimes are going deeper and deeper and deeper and this is important. There is always a new detail like we hear that Krishna appeared in the jail of Mathura in a four handed form with a helmet and yellow dhoti and Kaustaba gem and everything that we hear but then we read ( ina book ) by Rupa Goswami that Krishna also appeared as the son of Yasoda….. Krishna appeared simultaneously as the Son of Devaki and of the Son of Yasoda and when Vasudeva bought Krishna across the river to Mathura and and at that time Yasoda she had given birth to both a boy and a girl…….. she had twins ….and when Vasudeva put Krishna there then the Krishna that Vasudeva bought from Mathura became one with the son of Yasoda.. so there was one boy there and then Vasydava took the girl and Kamsa of course tried smashing the girl against the wall and she became Durga and like that… so Krishna actually appeared both in Mathura and in Vrndavana so this feat is only known to the intimate devotees not to the general public , Krishna was actually the real son of Yasoda , only a very few know that … so like this if we go deeper and deeper into the pastimes of Krishna there is always more to find out , so this is actually the essence.
Before I was a devotee I had two books one was the Bhagavad Gita and I used to read that while smoking my cigaretes and I was throwing the ashes on the pages thinking “yes yes iknow this iknow all this ..” because I had been in India and I knew about reincarnation, karma “ Yes yes yes …I know all this” and then …but the Krishna book , I was thinking this Krishna book I can’t read it you know because because I was thinking there is no excitement in this book you know : everytime a demon comes and 1 2 3 Krishna fights and boom and dead!( crowd laughs)…..
W0hat kind of book is this ?! There is no plot, I was used to Agagthie Christie or something like that and you look at some thriller, you want to reach on the last page and you can’t tell who is the killer and you have to know it , you can’t go to bed until I know, I have to know , I think I should just look on the last page ! and the tension is too much …………….there was no tension in this book, it doesn’t have a plot it is unreadable so when I at one point when to the temple , I had been in a temple in India for some time , then I left aggain so I started smoking cigarettes again and I went to the temple in Amsterdam and thought now I am going to smoke my very last cigarette that I ever smoke in my life and I was taking the train to the temple and I smoked two then there was still a walk from the train station to the temple so I smoked the very very last, so I smoked in the very very last and then I took a big big puff and I was standing on the door step and threw it all away and rang the door bell and they opened the door and I said I want to move into the temple ( Maharaja does sound effects of the smoke blowing from his mouth), he said Are you sure?!( crowd laughs).
I said yes I am sure , ok ok sit down on this chair and here is a magazine Back to Godhead and you can read that and I said I have already read that ..he said doesn’t matter we devotes we can read it all the time again and again… so I was there and I was reading the Back to Godhead and after 20 minutes I saw that devotee and he sais just stay there and so ok I stayed I kept on reading my back to Godhead so for hours I was reading the same back to Godhead and actually as I was reading it I was beginning to get a lot of realisations finding out more and more details….i was reading the same thing again and again and seeing each time another detail that I had missed ….so I was actually realising that there and there reading these stories of Krishna again and again actually gives a deeper and deeper insight , hearing them again and again gives us deeper and deeper insight into these stories…hearing them again and again , there is more and more understanding and in this way we turn over the same stories again Putana Putana Putana that story again Putana we are hearing this but there are always new details always something special and sometimes it’s just a small thing but just to hear how she also got the mercy of Krishna ..is a great encouragement …because if we look at it very carefully …Putana was mixed, she had some demoniac qualities and she did devotional service !...Sounds familiar doesn’t it!!!
Mixed just like us – she was bit of a demon and she was bit of a devotee at the same time and that’s intereting because we have this problem also ….then we see what happened to her…she somehow or other …Krishna only saw the service ….so this is very reassuring because so many times we are doubting …am I ever going to make it …I am like not so pure, I’m so fallen , am I a devotee or a demon .?.ok we know that book Satsvarupa Maharaja wrote: Am I a devotee or a demon …it is a classical title! That is a really good title. Everyone could identify with that title .. Am I a devotee or a demon …that’s the big question … Krishna protects the devotee but am I a devotee? Right? So many times we ask these time of questions ..but we see that Krishna simply sees the devotional service and disregards the poison…..What reassurance!!
So we may hear this story so many times and you may not think about it so deeply and you may not realise the full depth of it all ….So we discuss again and again , in this way little by little our appreciation for Krishna is increasing and increasing …our appreciation for the mercy of Krishna is increasing , the qualities of Krishna is increasing and our hope that we too can go back to Godhead is becoming stronger therefore we become stronger in our spiritual life.... Then we can actually do it.

Uninspired Or Inspired
Empowering The Devotees to Empower All The Living Entities
KKS DAILY NECTAR
So we seee here that Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu although He could easily do it Himself, He could easily deliver an entire universe, in fact we find a discussion in the Caitanya Caritamrita between Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Vasudeva Datta….
Vasudeva Datta was praying that he would take the sinful reaction of everyone in the entire universe and in such he is ready to deliver all the conditioned souls in the universe and he wants to take the sinful reactions.
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said “Well that’s really not required, there are so many universes, one more or less nobody would notice it, I could just do it like that you really wouldn’t need to suffer the reactions for that……. if I really wanted to deliver a universe I could just do it like that. Even if the entire universe ceases to exist nobody would reallt notice this, there are so many….. just and there are so many mustard seeds in a bag, who would notice the differenece if one mustard seed was missing.”
So like this Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was making that statement pointing out there really is no limit to His power delivering all the living entities in this universe but yet he is engaging the devotees … why?
The reason is to empower the different living entitites so that they become surcharged with transcendental energy. We see that one aspect of devotional service is the principle of empowerment. As a devotee is advancing in spiritual life he begins to gradually develop all the good qualities of the demigods.. it is said…..…sanskrit…. and what we speak of the qualities of the demigods, rather he begins to develop a number of the qualities of Krishna so it is described that 48 of the 64 qualites of Krishna can be attained by the jiva the living entity……….. Then we find another mention in the Nectar of Devotion that the nitya siddha devotees who descend from the spiritual world have up to 55 of the 64 qualities of the Lord. So we see that the Lord is empowering the devotees as they are becoming more and more purified with qualities similar to His……….. We see the descriptions of liberation that is given to the devotees….sanskrit…or they are getting the same opulence of the Lord, they get the same type of body as the Lord, they get the same residence of the Lord, the association of the Lord…so like that we see that everyone who is performing devotional service becomes empowered in his own personal way and also becomes ………..sanskrit….it is said such a person becomes a touchstone… whoever he comes in contact with he can transform! So the Lord empoweres his devotee and the devotee can also empower other living beings!
Distribute Krishna Consciousness Everywhere
KKS DAILY NECTAR
The fact that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is saying "I am the only gardener. How many places can I go? how many fruits can I pick and distribute?”
is in a way a fallacious statement, I mean Sri Chaitanya Mahabaru can pick unlimited fruits, distribute unlimted fruits ,there is absolutely no limit at all of what He can do, He is the Supreme Lord,All powerful . but none the less Chaitanya Mahaprabh then said “It would certainly be a very laborious task to pick the fruits and distribute them alone and still I suspect that some would receive them and others would not” ,
again a false statement, Chaitanya mahaprabhu can do it simply by His desire we wouldn’t ever have to work at all and He is all pervading so there is absolutely no restriction therefore
“I order every man in this universe to accept this Krishna Consciosness Movement and distribute it everyehwere” Chaitanya Mahaprabhui said.
So it’s very interesting that here we see that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu desired that others would do the work rather than Him by Himself.

Material World Is A Shadow
KKS DAILY NECTAR
exrcept from 25/01/2005
So we see that all the relationships that exist in this world also exist in the spiritual world but they exist in a greater form, there is nothing that exists in this world that doesn’t have a counter part in the spiritual world because the material world is described to be a reflection, yesterday we mentioned that some would think that the spiritual world has to be something that is not here, if we say what is spiritual we say that which is not material and if you follow that logic then you would say therefore the spiritual world is not material then anything of the material can not be of the spiritual so in that kind of logic you would think spirit and matter are opposites … but that is not the fact: actually matter is simply the shadow of spirit, and because it is the shadow of spirit it resembles spirit but it doesn’t have the full potency of the spirit just like the shadow of the tree, it takes the shape of the tree
but it doesn’t have all the intricate detailing and colour and so on, so you lose a lot, what to talk about tasting the fruits of the tree! There is no question of taste so all these dimensions of experience are gone. So here in the material world we see forms: we see people with arm and legs and there is a certain amount of beauty, there is beauty in bodies, there is emotion there is expression and there are all kind of exchanges, there is laughter there is astonishment, there is chivalry there is compassion, there is anger, there is dread and ghastliness in this world so all these relationships we know in this world , we know all these twelve elements of relationships, the five direct or principle elements of relationships are the basic thing, the basic foundation and then within that all the other experiences are there, just like parents and children are experiencing laughter, but lovers are also experiencing laughter, friends are also experiencing laughter, master and servant may also experience laughter so in this way by understanding material relationships we get an idea of the spiritual relationship because the material relation is a reflection of the original one , so by understanding the reflection , you understand something .. by the shadow of the tree you get an idea, at least some idea of what the tree is like in this way our understanding of the material energy we can understand something of the spiritual world but we can never understand in full ,
there are many dimensions that remain unknown to us and therefore from our present situation in the material world we can not understand the spiritual world so it is said that in the spiritual world there are also divisions, raass are manifested in various realms: it is said in the spiritual world there are different areas : there are the planets of Vaikuntha and above the planets of Vaikuntha is Ayodhya which actually we could explain it more simple: the spiritual world is unlimited and it consists of the effulgence of Brahman…. within the effulgence of Brahman there are unlimited Vaikuntha planets: then within that realm of Brahman there is a huge area……… then Goloka it is in the form of a lotus, with petals and it says all the petals of that lotus there are just on the external side we find Ayodhya, the abode of Lord Rama and then on the inner side of the petals we find Dwarka and then in the actual core , we find Goloka. So once again the effulgence of Brahman, that is the impersonal white light, oh we have heard plenty about that: if you mediate on that dot or that triangle or if you read the Tibetan book of the dead, right, then you encounter the white light! and there the all pervading white light….sanskrit.. it is the all pervading energy of Krishna which everything rests and some are being blinded by that white light: just as those who look into the sun, in the early morning you can actually see the sundisk, you see it appear and you can see, but at twelve noon you can not actually see the disk you can see just light glare and the glare is so bright that one can not actually understand the form, you can only see the glare so this is the situation in relation to the spiritual effulgence of Krishna, actually the Brahman energy is the effulgence of Krishna. One could say that it is His aura, because it is the effulgence that is emanating from His body and in the Sri Isopanisad
one of the principle Vedic literatures it is stated….sanskrit .., please take away this dazzling effulgence, take away this dazzling effulgence and manifest You original face, so behind the effulgence is Krishna in His Original form. So those who look for liberation become one with the spiritual energy they enter into that brahmajyoti, into that light and there they are formless as long as they like , for as long as they can tolerate and then again they will come down to this world….sanskrit… but then it says that there are other places where one has eternal personality and form so on the Vaikuntha planet one eternally has form, in Ayodhya one eternally has form , in Dwarka one eternally has form and in Goloka one eternally has form and not only do we have form all forms are there. Just as here we are in the realm of form, everything has forms, there everything has form and the ultimate form that is visible there is the form of the Supreme Lord.
Here the Supreme Lord is rarely seen, here that is the biggest problem that the Supreme Lord He is invisible and therefore that causes confusion , causes religious wars..because some say……i was reading some books that psychologists had interviews with children and He was interviewing these different children and some were four years old, there was this four year old boy, no six year old boy, four year old girl and a ten year old girl so he is interviewing the boy and he is aking the boy what happens after you die he said “well you go to heaven , right , you can go to heavan”
So they asked him “What is it like there?
“Well God is there”
“What does he look like?”
“He has blue eyes and blond hair”
And so obviously he had been exposed to a certain concept and had developed this idea about God. And the four year old girl her parents were not religious at all so they asked this girl that “What do you think about God”
Did she believe in god or anything. She said “Well my parents don’t believe in God but I sometimes do”
And they said like “Wow!”
She said that on the tv, beaver, some children series, “Beaver sometimes speaks about God and that made me think that made me think”
Four year old girl said, you know , that made me think that maybe there is God but my parents they don’t believe in God ……………..so this very interesting how you can see that this child started to think independently from the education of her parents, just a little stimulants from beaver and she started to think maybe
.They asked a girl the question “what would the world be like if you were not there?”
“ It wouldn’t be the same” she said “Because there wouldnt be a girl who was the younger sister of (then she named her brother)…, there wouldn’t be a girl in the city orchestra that plaved the viola…..” and like that she was speaking and then they sort of asked her:
“If there wouldn’t be any people at all?”
And she said “Well that wouldn’t be any good because people are important because we wouldn’t have people it wouldn’t make sense”
So they asked her “Why not?”
So she come up with this idea:That people, why are there people, “People are there to keep God company” ….. she comes up with that!! It’s just like interesting, very interesting because it is true we are the eternal company, companions of the Supreme Lord actually . She hit the nail on the head!! She figured it out with her childish innocence , she actually figured out what it is all about: that eternally we are meant to be in the company of the Supreme Lord!!!

Everyone Is Dear To Krishna
KKS DAILY NECTAR
Krishna is the embodiment of all rasas, He maintains eternal relationships with various devotees who are attracted to serve Him in different rasas according to their moods, different tastes and mellows. Krishna is maintaining unlimited relationships with unlimited devotees and with all these unlimited devotees, Krishna is having a variation of relationships and all are dear to Him. It is not that any living being is not dear to Krishna. Krishna is described as the friend of all living beings. So Krishna maintains relationships with all devotees and everyone is dear to Him.

Mystic Opulence (part4)
KKS Daily Nectar
...Narada Muni saw Krishna and simultaneously all his senses were becoming completely alert and all his senses were simultaneously experiencing …having the most inspiring experience!..... Because whatever they saw, Krishna ,and you can say they were all eye, then when they heard Krishna they were all ear, and smell Krishna, that smell that was just totally taking over…see when I talk about smell, my eyes are closing now and I am all nose… my nostrils open up and smell, go deep in the smell or go deep in the sound ..but Narada Muni was going deep in all, the seeing Krishna, the most amazing thing, hearing Krishna was the most amazing thing and smelling Krishna was the most amazing thing.. all that happens all at the same time and of course total confusion but at the same time a most ecstatic confusion….He couldn’t contain himself, the ecstasy was just overwhelming and beyond his control because Krishna is like that, He is the ultimate reservoir of all pleasure….sanskrit….He is the all encompassing form of all taste and all pleasure and therefore somehow or other we must always remember Krishna.
He stands in a three bended form and Rupa Goswami was explaining: don’t go at Kesi Ghatta and don’t look at Govinda at Kesi Ghatta if you still have any attachment to this material world….don’t do it, don’t do it! because Krishna will take away all of our attachments … so this is so nice, whatever Krishna does is nice…..
Like I was reading tenth canto and all these different stories about Krishna and the whole day we had read a lot… and Krishna sometimes ………He is also violent! He is, right.
The Krishna book is not exactly all about love and things are so sweet……no sometimes it is quite intense right…chopping arms and legs and things like this and fighting like anything….. Yes but that is also good because that is not violence but that is actually giving us also relief from the violence from the demons. We are being harassed. Everyone is living in fear, who doesn’t lock the door at night, who leaves everything wide open… “Dear wanders in the night come in my house!”….we put the lock on, put the chain, the latch and all these things we put because it is a crazy world, crazy world … some people of course they don’t care they just go to sleep anywhere anytime ..but is that intelligent .. I don’t know….crazy world…….
So Krishna may fight, yes, we even have Krishna in the form of Lord Nrshingadeva, and then we have that picture of how Lord Nrshingadeva, Hiranyakasipu still on his lap, he has just taken out the intestines and there is like blood all over the place and there already something like hanging around His neck, intestines as a garland as well and there He is Lord Nrsghingadeva quite covered in blood and so on and we have used pictures of Him and sometimes it happens that a guest walks in to a temple and really sees the picture, not just walk pasts but really registers that that is there and say “” What! Is That!?”…. and we say “ Oh, that’s God”
“ Is that your God!? Is that Him?!”
And we say yes that’s our God…He is very gentle (( crowd laughs)
He doesn’t look it but He is very angry, He is very angry and that shows how gentle He is..how soft hearted He is.
We can see that lord Nrshingavdeva is the especially soft hearted form of the Lord, He is especially soft hearted, because when Hiranyakasipu was messing with Prahlada the Lord just became ferocious. But wouldn’t we become ferocious too.
If I was too see someone attacking a little child I may also feel like taking a little bit of a Narashinga form! And I wouldn’t mind at all ripping the guy to pieces, right, I might even try if he wasn’t leaving the kid alone because there are limits to the amount tolerated and therefore we see how Lord Narshingadeva is very soft hearted ..He cares … and therefore the violence of Krishna is not violence .. it is the end of violence…. It is the beginning of peace… of course in the spiritual world such thing are not required…there the violence is just fun, wrestling for fun that is different, so I am just thinking let’s take shelter, shelter of Krishna , let us take shelter of His lotus feet, His nails are like moons , so Krishna’s nails are like the mother of pearls, they are very bright they shine like the moon . so Krishna’s nails are more beautiful then the moon. To say that Krishna’s nails are like the moon is in one sense: it is impossible to compare anything with Krishna.
It is explained that like jewellery is usually used to make people look better, we see that especially older ladies deck themselves out with lots of gold, lots of jewellery and then they look like something….. But with Krishna it is the opposite,.He is wearing jewels and the jewels become more beautiful by Krishna wearing them so nothing in the world can compare to Krishna, so if we see how the Acharyas are describing Krishna they then go very slow, they go slow, they don’t rush…( Maharaja jokingly speaks fast) : “Ok Krishna plays a flute, wears a peacock feather, has a threefold bend form and He is the colour of a monsoon cloud and what’s next”……..
No there is no what’s next, He plays the flute, Oh and they get into it. What happens with that flute, we know so many thing about the flute, Gopis they are envious of Krishna’s flute, they tried to steal Krishna’s flute and it says that Krishna is very careful at keeping the flute away from them because the tendency of the Gopis is to snatch that flute away and hide it somewhere…why..because this flute is getting the attention of Krishna’s lips and they can not tolerate it . “ It’s too much this flute is stealing away our property” so they have a thing with the flute…so what to say ….so these things are very deep ……..and difficult to understand….but that is the spiritual world, the spiritual world, where everyone and everything is meaningful…….not the empty world.

My Dear Jayadvaita,
Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of February 5, 1972, and have noted the contents.
Yes, because no one else can do them, I shall do the sanskrit synonyms. You simply send me now the manuscripts as required by you, and I shall send back either dictaphone tapes or tape-recorder cassettes. There is presently shortage of tape-recorder cassettes here in India, so if you can send a few that would be a help.
One thing is you must send them in small packets of a few tapes each, clearly marked "unsolicited gift, value less than $5, no commercial value,'' like that. You may send to Calcutta ISKCON before 29th this month, otherwise send to Bombay....
Hoping this will meet you in good health.

One thing is you must send them in small packets of a few tapes each, clearly marked "unsolicited gift, value less than $5, no commercial value,'' like that. You may send to Calcutta ISKCON before 29th this month, otherwise send to Bombay....
Hoping this will meet you in good health.
Your ever well-wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swamiem>Prabhupada

Cloning!
Questions and Answers about Human Cloning
by HH JAS
Can they clone a human being?
They can. They will. They may already have.
Does a clone have a soul?
Yes. A clone has consciousness, and consciousness means soul.
How does the soul enter the cloned body?
No problem. It already happens in nature, with identical twins. One cell splits into two bodies, and by Krishna's arrangement a soul enters both.
Is there any history of cloning in the Vedic scriptures?
Yes, in Srimad-Bhagavatam. When the goddess Diti was pregnant, Lord Indra by mystic power entered her womb to kill the expected child. He cut the child to pieces -- but each piece, to his surprise, became a child. These children became known as the forty-nine Maruts. (An early lesson to cloners: Once you start slicing, you may not always end up with what you set out for.)
Will cloning be good for humanity?
Sometimes good, sometimes bad, always a waste of time. Cloning is but another attempt to coax nature into giving us a better life on earth, a life more like what we want.
But nature, by design, acts in such a way that we always get precisely what we deserve: a mixture of happiness and distress brought about, measure for measure, by our own karma. No matter what you do, you can't squeeze a better life out of it.
Real advancement of civilization lies not in tinkering with nature, vainly trying to make a better world, but in moving forward in self-realization and getting out of the material world altogether. If we're not doing that, we're simply wasting our time.
But as long as we're here, can't cloning bring about some good?
Some good, perhaps. But here's a secret of nature: Whenever we try to exploit her, get more, make things better, she always retaliates. Result: More comfort at the start, more trouble later down the line. It's "the rubber-band effect": It always snaps back on you.
As stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (7.9.17), duhkhausadham tad api duhkham atad-dhiyaham: As long as we're in material consciousness, whatever we do to remedy our troubles just makes our troubles worse.
With the comfort of the car comes the poison of exhaust; with the efficiency of nuclear power plants,
disasters like in Chernobyl.
In the long run, will cloning make for a better world?
No. As usual, worse.
What kind of karma must you have to become a clone?
Bad. Good or bad, karma's all bad, because karma means repeated birth and death.
Apart from that, precisely what kind of karma must you have?
The ins and outs of karma are subtle, too subtle to consistently predict. The cell biologists at the Roslin Institute who cloned Dolly the sheep might come back in their next lives as sheep, perhaps cloned ones, bleating a truly excellent "baa baa" and wearing superior coats of wool.
What will cloning mean for bioethics?
It'll mean a mess. The pattern is becoming familiar: Science charges ahead, and human life becomes more vexatious, more dangerous, and further off from spiritual realization.
What does the Hare Krishna movement advise?
Live simply, chant Hare Krishna, get out of this material world, and go back home, back to Godhead.

Conquering hearts...
I was studying the biographies of Lord Caitanya’s pastimes and in particular the pastime of the Lord taking sannyasa. And within this pastime where Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s taking sannyasa, Kavi Karnapura in his biography in drama form, known as the Caitanya Candradoya Nataka, is giving a description of what’s going on when all the devotees of Navadvipa are just practically dying in separation. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu has left. It’s three days; it’s been three days and they are still living! How is this possible? It is said that they are only living by the rope of hope, that maybe He’ll return. Otherwise, they would have given up their bodies. Then, then suddenly in a distance everyone sees Acarya Ratna; Acarya Ratna, he had gone with Lord Nityananda along with Lord Caitanya and Acarya Ratna is returning in a distance. When Acarya Ratna is coming closer all the devotees are surrounding him and are asking him, “Acarya Ratna, what is the new? Where is the Lord?” Acarya Ratna is in a totally broken hearted state. Acarya Ratna says, “I cannot…I cannot speak.” And everyone is getting totally, totally…very strong and says, “you cannot speak? You shall speak! Where is the Lord?” So Acarya Ratna finally covers his mouth with his hand and he says, “The Lord took sannyasa!” everyone understood it, everyone understood- the Lord took sannyasa. And a cry of agony is echoing in all directions. And the Acarya Ratna says, “but, I have a message from Lord Nityananda for Advaita Acarya,” everyone says, “What is it? What is it?” no one thinks it’s for Advaita Acarya- everyone wants to hear it! And he says, “Nityananda says that somehow or other He will arrange that the Lord will come to the house of Advaita Acarya in Santipura.” And Advaita Acarya, when he hears that message, he calls out, “Nityananda! Nityananda! What a friend! What a friend! He has conquered my heart!”
So I like this story very much! And it really illustrates what friendship is all about. We can so easily say, ‘yes he’s my friend’ and on some level there may be natural friendship between people. But real friendship comes from conquering the heart, from completely conquering the heart, and we see that in this case Nityananda conquered the heart of Advaita Acarya.
…so this is the wonderful nature of true relationships- they are not cheap- and everyone in society whether he is in the superior position or in the junior position has to conquer. And we see that Srila Prabhupada kept on conquering the hearts of his disciples in various ways until the last days in Vrndavana, Prabhupada was putting himself in the hands of his disciples, and there was a debate: to go on the bullock cart around Govardhana. Then finally a group came and said, “Please don’t go!” and finally one of them said, “you are driving us mad- mad with love!” and Prabhupada said, “that is my duty!” so in this way the spiritual master also conquers the heart of the disciple and never takes it for granted.

The level of trust...
Excerpts from a lecture given by HH Kadamba Kanana Swami Maharaja this morning in Sridham Mayapur, 8/12/08
Such level of trust is very rare to find; basically our entire world is based on distrust and this is so deeply rooted in our hearts that it’s very hard to accept any authority, it’s very difficult to accept any guidance and even when the authority is bonafide then we find that we are so conditioned by this inherent distrust that we just can’t surrender, that we cannot just emotionally trust, although intellectually we know we should- like in a guru disciple relationship. With great fear we go before our spiritual master hoping that we will not get an impossible order that we have to follow. Thus we try to be neutral, thus we try to be invisible, thus we try to not stand out too much and attract too much attention- dangerous! One could be sent anywhere, any place, any time in the world, and then what? With an absolute order and this is most scary that there could be a person in the world who is absolute authority over us- my God! Just the thought! So that level of trust is so difficult to achieve, so rare to find and yet that is what is required in spiritual relationships. It requires a certain amount of detachment also…
